PS---Mukta--I read your story---and it is precious. Maybe you already have children's books---if not---it might be a consideration.

Mukta Gupta replied:

I have thought about it several times, started on it but don't know what stops me, I guess I don't really have real know how and confidence to do it... but hopefully it will happen one of these days!

Artist's Description

This oil painting was done on a 24 x 36" stretched canvas. This is a very intuitive piece and more like a children story that came into my mind. Here kula is the dog and Pani is a cat's ghost belonging to a child and the ghost follows around the happy dog who is happy to jump and get the plumeria flowers from the Plumeria tree to make children happy. When I was painting this painting I was sharing house with roommates who had a little daughter and when she came into my room while I was painting, I asked her what did she see and she told me she saw Kula and Pani's Ghost, Kula her dog and Pani her cat who had died recently. So I titled this piece as Kula and Pani's ghost. She was also in love with the color purple since she was very little and when I was mixing colors on the canvas, she saw me mixing blue and red and it became purple and all of a sudden I saw this shine in her eyes on recognition of how the purple was made from red and blue in front of her eyes. Its amazing to see that r...

About Mukta Gupta

Mukta Gupta

I was born in small town in India, at the border of a northwestern desert state of Rajasthan. At an early age, the vibrant colors and sweet melodies of nature and nomadic gypsies, called Banjaras, influencing my inner as well as outer world. My Banjara existence yearned for stability, at least in my inner being as I found it nonexistent in the outer world for obvious reasons of inherent uncertainty, being the very nature of our physical material world. My art was born out of the need to create symmetry out of asymmetry, harmony out of disharmony and order out of chaos in the explosively violent world where life itself has become an industrial commodity to satisfy the lust of the consumer, capitalistic world overpowered by the greed,...
